Technology has existed in my life from the time I bought a reel-to-reel tape recorder with my paper route earnings. In the Navy, I was a hospital corpsman and the yeoman for 13 psychiatrists. I assisted in EEG diagnoses and electroshock therapies, state-of-the-art technology at that time. In college I worked at the radio studios and helped with sound and lighting in university theater productions.
In my career as a school psychologist, computer technology was important in evaluation of students with attention difficulties. From 1983 through 1986, my wife and lived overseas and worked at International School of Bangkok where I worked as the administrator for Student Services. From 1986 to 1987 we lived in Australia. During those years, MacIntosh computers became part of student learning. Every summer, technology followed my wife and I around the world. We lugged Sony’s newly introduced video camera tethered to a thirteen-pound cassette recorder. We documented our adventures using VHS technology.
After returning to the States in 1987, I became interested in DOS, Microsoft Windows, the MS Office Suite, Adobe Pagemaker, Corel Draw, and Word Perfect.
I retired to Florida in 2005 only to restart my career with Pasco Schools. At that time, I finally stopped complaining about Mac technology and learned Apple’s operating systems. My wife and I retired for the last time in 2011 so we could travel. We’ve journeyed around the world five times and to nearly ninety countries. I’ve posted over thirty-six YouTubes documenting our trips.
