Your club is very active and busy providing help in our local community. There is so much we can do, as individuals and as a club, to make a difference.
Donate a Computer
The Hernando Computer Club accepts donated computer systems, refurbishes them, and then offers them to charitable organizations at no-cost. We have donated refurbished computers to ARC, Lighthouse for the Blind, Dawn Center, Hernando County Schools and others.
All computers donated to the club must be Windows 10 capable. Currently acceptable are computer systems that were designed for Windows 7 or newer operating systems. Windows XP and Vista computers are not accepted. Contribution of peripherals and parts, such as LCD monitors, speakers, keyboards, mice, memory, hard drives, etc., are also accepted. Printers less than 10 years old may also be accepted.
All computers donated to the Club, will have their hard drives re-imaged with Windows 10, thereby erasing all of the user data and applications.
Please contact tech@hcc.org. Include your phone number.

Whisper Phones
In 2019, HCC had a request from one of the elementary schools. Although it’s not a “computer” device, whisper phones are becoming popular among students who are just beginning to read. To use a whisper phone, kids hold one end of the phone up to their ear and whisper read into the other end. The phone amplifies the sound, which helps them more clearly hear the sounds and words they’re saying. So HCC found that we could manufacture these very easily. We got to work on getting the parts donated to us (they are made of pvc pipe and elbows). Recently we had a new order for 140 for Suncoast Elementary School, right here in our community. Below see photo of Teacher, Principal, Scott Piesik, and our own Community Service Director, Hollis Taylor after delivering a whisper phone to each student!
Gardening at Nature Coast Botanical Gardens
Our club took on the maintenance of one of the Gardens at the Nature Coast Botanical Gardens. The Garden Committee meets the first Wednesday of each month at 9am to weed and feed our garden plot. Afterward we go for brunch (dutch treat). Contact Gail Hines: gardening@hcc.org
